punkrock

unbridled aggression
concealing surprising love
violence
concealing respect
true love
disguised as pure hate
from the outside
looking in
death
from the inside
looking out
death

a thought for today and tomorrow

the joyful cannot be oppressed
i've been gone for a while... rather than self-consciously futile commentary on why and how i was gone or what i should have done in the meantime, i think we can cut right to the chase

a poem

office

a man
wrinkled and torn
the years cut his face
thousands of tiny knives
with each tear
carving their canyons into
face
bed rock

he sits outside the doctor's office
awaiting news
be it good
bad
it will not hurt
it will be expected
and the suffering will be
short
nonexistent

slightly yellowed dentures
sit on a formless gum
the product of unhealthiness
a poor environment
he had no choice
the teeth, like his neurons
fell
withered and died

thinking of days gone by
children come and gone
fleeting moments of happiness
wisps of summer air
institutional sterility
surgeons
kill the air
out with the old
in with nothing

soon the yellowed dentures
will meet the unforgiving soil
and the children
will forget
and be forgotten
a sea of boundless love
dried
by a wind of warm indifference
